Abstract

The aim of this research is to establish an aluminum foam with suitable cover In this research, after preparation and brushing, commercial pure aluminum sheets with dimensions 200×100×1 mm3 of they were stacked with 2 wt% of TiH2 powder. Then sheets were rolled by ARB method up to 4 passes with 50% reduction in each pass. They are treat different temperatures of 500-650 °C and diffrent times of 10-20 min for foaming. The effect of temperature and holding heat treated. The density and porosity of the foam was measured by tests based on Archimedes. The results showed that the produced foams have higher porosity at temperatures close to the melting temperature of aluminum and at hoding time of 10 min. The produced foams were welded by friction stir welding at different rotational speeds of 560-1100 rpm at constant advancing speed of 25 mm/min.Invesstigation of welded sections of the foam showed that a suitable joints with acceptable properties is achieved by FSW. Furtheremore, the weld stir zone hardness of the foam rises by increasing rotational speed.
